When we poured the driveway, my kids wanted a place to play tether ball and I needed a way to easily work on the beam. The solution was to place a sleeve, made of a section of telescoping size pipe, in the concrete form before the concrete for the driveway was poured. It allowed the kids to play tether ball and the OM to stick a pipe in for use as an antenna support. Not only does the support make it easier to work on antennas, but it also works for pre tuning the antenna before putting it on the tower. In spite of the steel garage door, the tuning is very close.
The kids are now grown. My son Ira received his B.S. in Accounting from the University of Southern California's Leventhal School of Accounting in 1999, is a working accountant and is currently working on his Master's Degree in Political Science at California State University, Fullerton. My daughter Rachel (KC6IKM) received her B.A. (Magna Cum Laude) in Psychology from Cornell University in 2000 and is now a doctorial candidate in Linguistics at the University of Delaware and is currently in Queretaro, Mexico doing research for her thesis.
